International training in coding and electronic publication of mediaeval inscriptions in the University of Cologne

Between 05. and 07. December 2019, Dr. Dimitar Iliev from the Department of Classics to the University of Sofia, member of the Management Council of the CLaDA-BG Consortium and National Coordinator of DARIAH-EU for Bulgaria conducted training in the encoding and digital publication of mediaeval inscriptions at the University of Cologne. This training was yet another successful episode in the already long-term collaboration between the two institutions in the field of Digital Humanities. A group of MA and PhD students,professors and researchers from the University of Cologne as well as visiting researchers from Düsseldorf and Thessaloniki got acquainted with the principles of mark-up languages and the peculiarities of the digital annotation of stone inscriptions using EpiDoc XML and the EFES service. The participants, under the supervision of Dr. Iliev, encoded late Mediaeval Genoese texts from Constantinople.
