The Open Day of the E-Infrastructure for the Bulgarian Language and Cultural Heritage CLaDA-BG was held on the 24th October 2025 at the Administration Building of Bulgarian Academy of Sciences (BAS). At the opening of the event, Mrs. Zornitsa Georgieva, expert at the Science Directorate of the Ministry of Education and Science (MES), and Prof. Shteliyan Shterionov, Deputy Chair of BAS, delivered ceremonial speeches.
In the first half of the event scientists from the Institute of Information and Communication Technologies presented the essence of CLaDA-BG and the organization’s main activities, the usage of language resources and the application of 3D technologies. Presentations were also delivered by representatives of Institute of Mathematics and Informatics, Sofia University “St. Kliment Ohridski”, Institute of Balkan Studies and Centre of Thracology and University of Shumen “Konstantin Preslavsky”. The reports addressed topics such as language resources and technologies, as well as the collection, study, and digitization of Bulgarian linguistic and cultural heritage.
In the second half of the event, participants represented their research results in poster and demo sessions. The speakers and the guests had the chance to exchange experience and see demonstrations of various projects related to:
- studying various aspects of speech and creating dictionaries;
- digitalization of medieval manuscripts and sources about historical past;
- researching buildings of historical importance to Bulgaria’s past;
- visualizing annotated documents using large language models (LLMs);
- digitizing the archive of Ivan Vazov National Library in Plovdiv;
- intelligent digital management and presentation of large datasets and knowledge in the fields of culture, humanities and social sciences;
- 3D visualisation of ancient artefacts;
- creating a Bulgarian corpus in an interactive online platform for children’s speech;
- researching about verbal associations;
- text mining for a creation of a Bulgarian event corpus;
- organizing anthropological researches about the society’s beliefs of the recent past and debatable interpretation of the past’s different aspects;
- updating texts to conform with contemporary Bulgarian spelling norms.
The event was attended by more than 50 people from various organisations – universities, institutes of the Bulgarian Academy of Sciences, libraries, etc.
